A collage of antique army men, cowboys, and Indigenous warriors surrounds a central soldier seated upon a barrel, crowned with a halo fashioned from a Dr Pepper bottle cap while clutching a 7 Up can. Guarded by two penguins bearing instant food (much like Odin’s ravens), the figure becomes an unlikely symbol of humanity’s contradictions, caught between its desires and the circumstances imposed upon it. Against a backdrop of Gene Kelly in Singin’ in the Rain, the work invokes Hollywood’s postwar idealism and its promise of a happier, more glamorous existence. The incongruity of the soda brands speaks to the disparity between what humanity wants and what it is compelled to pursue, drawing a parallel between the simple pleasures of everyday life and the devastating pursuit of resources through warfare. Through the repurposing of cheerful objects, the sculpture explores the horrors of conflict, the danger of imposed ideals, and the enduring human tendency to romanticize destruction in the pursuit of progress.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Hot Pop Plasma","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":45931697569861,"sku":null,"price":287.5,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0629\/2792\/9413\/files\/Photoroom_20261004_161101.jpg?v=1791149688","url":"https:\/\/hotpopplasma.com\/products\/get-this-man-a-dr-pepper","provider":"Hot Pop Plasma","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
